tabgroupsync.bayeslearner.com/open/, in "carrier" tabs for local files. The local file path in that link sits after the #, and browsers never send that part to the server.
Tab Group Sync uses these browser permissions:
If you turn on "Allow access to file URLs" for the extension, it can also open and save file:// tabs, such as a PDF in your Dropbox folder. It records only the file's path, never the file's contents.
chrome.storage.sync; some, such as your home folder path on this computer, is in chrome.storage.local and stays on this device. If you have turned on sync in your browser (a Google account in Chrome, a Microsoft account in Edge), the browser copies those bookmarks and synced settings to your other devices, as it does for any bookmark. That copy is made by your browser vendor under its own privacy policy. Tab Group Sync has no part in it and cannot see it.
Browsers drop file:// tabs when they sync tab groups or Edge Workspaces. To keep a local file with its group, Tab Group Sync opens a companion "carrier" tab beside it. The carrier tab's address looks like this:
https://tabgroupsync.bayeslearner.com/open/#/Users/you/Dropbox/Books/notes.pdf
https://tabgroupsync.bayeslearner.com/open/. Browsers do not send the part after #, so the server never receives the file path. The page is a static file served by Cloudflare Pages. Like any web server, Cloudflare receives the usual request details: your IP address, browser user agent, the time, and the page requested. We do not run analytics on this page, set cookies, or load third-party scripts. Cloudflare's handling of request data is described in its privacy policy.Tab Group Sync uses tab and bookmark data only to save and restore your tab groups, the single purpose described in its store listings. Its use of this data complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements, and with the Microsoft Edge Add-ons developer policies.
Nothing is backed up until you choose to: you turn sync on for each group, or turn on auto-sync for new groups in Settings.
The extension's popup, welcome page and help contain links, for example to this site or to a page where you can support development. Opening one is an ordinary visit to that website, under that site's own privacy policy.
Uninstalling the extension removes its settings from extension storage. Your bookmark folders stay in your bookmarks, because they are yours; delete them in the bookmark manager if you no longer want them. Carrier tabs are ordinary tabs; close them, and clear your browsing history if you want their addresses removed from it.
The extension does not collect information from anyone, including children under 13.
If how the extension handles data changes, this page and its "Last updated" date will change with it.
